Report: NJPW G1 Climax 31 Plans Finalised

Gedo and co. have everything planned out

New Japan Pro-Wrestling have finalised plans for the G1 Climax 31, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter

The plans were reportedly finished off in recent weeks and who will be wrestling in the tournament has been decided. Similar to 2020, the G1 will take place in September and October.

The G1 is traditionally held in the summer, but last year's matches were pushed to the autumn because of the Tokyo Summer Olympics. The games were postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, though, and they will begin next month on July 23.

Instead of running the G1 in the summer this year, NJPW has scheduled another Summer Struggle tour which will run from July 10 until August 1.

Who will be involved in the G1 Climax 31 ultimately remains to be seen. The likes of Shingo Takagi, Kota Ibushi, Tetsuya Naito and Kazuchika Okada have all been featured prominently in 2021, but there are question marks over other talent with unrest still present on the roster.
