Report: Original Plans For Bad Bunny At WWE Backlash Revealed

A singles match was not the original plan

Rap sensation Bad Bunny will take on Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight at Backlash tomorrow, in what will be both the Grammy winner's first singles match and first match in his home country.

According to a new report, WWE had different plans for Bad Bunny originally.

Fightful Select noted that around WrestleMania time the idea was to have him team up with Rey Mysterio against The Judgment Day duo of Priest and Dominik Mysterio. Things were moving in that direction when plans changed to a singles match instead.

WWE made the switch when both they and Bad Bunny were deemed to have felt confident with the rapper's ability to have a good singles match.

Fightful added that the original idea was for Bad Bunny to pin Dominik in the proposed tag match. Both Mysterios will be in Puerto Rico for the premium live event and could still play a part in the match, given the Street Fight rules.

A recent report suggested that both Priest and Bad Bunny were pushing to main event Backlash.
