Report: Reason WWE Moved Money In The Bank From Allegiant Stadium Revealed

While Money In The Bank was initially planned as a stadium show for WWE, Vince McMahon's organisation announced on Thursday the July 2 pay-per-view would be moving from Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, also in Vegas. 

Fans who had already purchased tickets were automatically refunded and were told they would have first priority on MGM tickets when they go on sale on Wednesday, June 1.

WWE did not announce why they were moving the show but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported the venue change was ultimately down to 'lack of ticket sales.' 

WrestleTix reported 17,924 tickets had been purchased for the July 2 show in a stadium that was set up for 24,867 fans. WWE's previous show in Allegiant Stadium - SummerSlam 2021 - drew 51,326 fans.

Furthermore, Meltzer noted WWE decided to make the venue switch two weeks ago but didn't make the change official until Thursday, possibly in the hope that commercials in the last week would allow ticket sales to pick up. 

Since WWE's announcement, major stars like Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey have been pulled from advertisements for Money In The Bank, leaving their status for the pay-per-view unclear.
