Report: The Kenny Omega-Don Callis AEW Partnership Was First Pitched In December 2019

A long time in the making...

The partnership between Kenny Omega and Don Callis was forged on last week's edition of Dynamite when the IMPACT Wrestling EVP helped The Best Bout Machine defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

Omega and Callis have since appeared on IMPACT and Dynamite and the former Jackyl established himself as The Invisible Hand behind The Cleaner's career and professional wrestling as a whole. They also claimed they pulled off the biggest screwjob in wrestling since Montreal and Callis looks set to be Omega's manager while the AEW World Champion tries to add titles to his collection.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Callis first pitched the storyline in December 2019 soon after Kenny Omega and "Hangman" Adam Page formed their tag team.

The original plan for the team would have seen Hangman turn heel on Omega, but that was scrapped following the early reaction to Page's new alcohol gimmick and AEW decided to keep the team together long term. This change of plans and the COVID-19 pandemic meant the Omega-Callis partnership storyline was delayed by a year and only started last week.
