Report: Tony Khan Not Interested In Signing Matt Riddle To AEW

Tony Khan doesn't want to sign Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle drummed up some talk over the last few days of him potentially heading back to WWE, but he also commented on the possibility of going to AEW, speaking glowingly about the promotion and making it clear that he is open to signing with them. However, do not expect Riddle to head to AEW.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Matt Riddle is not expected to be AEW bound. It is noted that behind the scenes, AEW’s President Tony Khan has no interest in signing Matt Riddle to AEW, nor does it seem as though he has had any interest in the past several years. It is implied that Riddle’s more controversial side has played into the fact that Khan is unwilling to turn in his direction.

An interesting note is that AEW talent very rarely work with Matt Riddle on the independent scene, aside from in Mexico. For instance, Riddle has competed against Komander, Penta El Zero Miedo, The Beast Mortos exclusively in Mexico. Riddle also recently revealed an awkward meeting with Tony Khan which took place earlier this year.
