Report: Update On Ahmed Johnson's Pro Wrestling Return

Ahmed Johnson is coming back to pro wrestling

There has been an update on Ahmed Johnson's return to professional wrestling.

The 59-year-old was recently announced for his first contract signing in several years and Johnson will make a rare appearance at an Independent Superstars of Professional Wrestling event in New Jersey on March 11. Johnson will be at the event to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

Multiple talents from the 1990s have returned to the squared circle in the past couple of years, including The Kiss Demon and Barry Horowitz but Ahmed Johnson seemingly won't be one of them. According to Fightful Select, there are no plans for Johnson to wrestle anytime soon.

Johnson rose to fame in WWE after signing with the company in 1995, becoming the first-ever African American Intercontinental Champion one year later. He would leave the promotion in 1998 to care for his terminally ill sister and a brief run in WCW in 2000 followed as Big T.

Following his WCW exit, Johnson performed a handful of times on the independents before retiring in 2003.
