Report: Update On Jonathan Gresham-AEW Talks

Jonathan Gresham and AEW have reportedly been in talks for some time

With ROH’s relaunch under Tony Khan’s ownership set for April 1 with Supercard of Honor XV, there are several questions surrounding the promotion’s relaunch, most notably, who will be part of the ROH roster going forward?

However, according to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it seems as ROH Original World Champion Jonathan Gresham could be sticking around:

“The belief is that when Progress sends their shows to WWE, they will be editing out Gresham’s matches since he is likely to be an AEW contracted guy very soon.”

Gresham recently defeated Cara Noir for the PROGRESS World Championship, putting him in the unique position of being the top champion in both an AEW and a WWE affiliate promotion.

Rumours surrounding a deal between Gresham and Khan have been swirling for months, with many assuming AEW would jump at the chance to sign Gresham following ROH’s Q1 2022 hiatus. Indeed, Gresham has reportedly been backstage at several AEW shows.

The assumption is if Gresham and Khan do reach a deal then Gresham would likely head up this new Ring of Honor, with Gresham set to face ROH World Champion Bandido in a title unification match at Supercard of Honor, but there is every chance that Gresham could be a ‘main roster’ AEW talent if he puts pen to paper.
