Report: Update On ROH Staff Following Tony Khan Acquisition

ROH underwent a major change on Wednesday, March 2, as AEW President Tony Khan announced he was now the owner of Ring Of Honor. The 39-year-old's plans for the promotion remain largely unknown beyond that ROH will continue as a wrestling company and Khan will be the booker. 

While Khan is the new owner, his deal to purchase Ring Of Honor hasn't quite been completed, although SEScoops noted ROH executives expect the deal to close around the first week of April.

This is primarily because the deal to buy ROH was done "in reverse" and was put in place quickly, with a lot of details now needing to be finalised.

ROH are currently on hiatus and have been since Final Battle in December 2021, with plans to return on April 1 with Supercard Of Honor. 

While all talent were released from their deals at the end of the year, staff have been kept under contract although their futures are now up in the air following Khan's acquisition, SEScoops further noted.

ROH employees were reportedly told it doesn't appear the "new regime" have any interest in hiring them once the sale is completed and staff have been encouraged to seek other career opportunities. Some could see themselves transferred to other divisions within Sinclair Broadcast Group and severance packages are being considered also. 

The message to ROH staff has reportedly been: "We're fighting for you and exploring how to help everyone. If you want to stay in the wrestling business, we're doing our best, but there is no formal transition planned and no guarantee that anybody will stay on."
