Report: Update On WWE WrestleMania 37 Moving To Tampa, Florida

Someone might jump off the pirate ship after all...

Doubts have been cast over WrestleMania 37 taking place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California in recent months because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Sporting events in Los Angeles County can currently only take place behind closed doors and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti previously said large gatherings may be prohibited in the city until April 2021.

Inside The Ropes recently reported WWE has made tentative plans to move The Showcase Of The Immortals to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and the company has "locked down" most venues in the area for WrestleMania weekend events. WrestleVotes later revealed WWE has internally listed Tampa as the host city for 'Mania, but the company is currently locked in a legal battle with the City of Los Angeles over cancelling the event.

They tweeted: "Now that news is out, I can say that WWE has had Tampa listed as the host city internally for over a month. The battle w/ the city of Los Angeles about who can legally cancel the event & when is still underway. However, IF we get a traditional WrestleMania, Tampa Bay will host."

Raj Giri of WrestlingInc. provided an update on the situation last night. He noted WWE believes the City of Los Angeles is preventing them from hosting WrestleMania 37 at SoFi Stadium and not the other way around. Also, the company hasn't officially announced the move to Tampa because Los Angeles wants WWE to confirm WrestleMania 38 will take place in the City Of Angels.

WWE was hoping to announce the change by mid-November at the latest so tickets for 'Mania can go on sale before the holiday season.

Giri also mentioned WWE has the full support and backing of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to hold WrestleMania 37 at Raymond James Stadium.
