REVEALED: Why CM Punk Is Renegotiating His WWE Contract

The reason CM Punk is sorting out a new WWE deal has been revealed

CM Punk's current deal with WWE is close to expiring, which is why he is currently in the process of restructuring his contract with the company, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio

"What happened when CM Punk came in, they had a short-term deal which is expiring now. Now there are rollovers in the deal so there’s not like a hurry that they have to sign him because the deal goes longer. But they knew all along that right around now would be when they would be renegotiating any deals...It was kind of known that that was going to happen now. Everyone is getting along fine. There's nothing wrong with it or anything like that...He's just hammering down the terms that everyone knew they were going to do at a certain point, which is now just to basically get everyone back on the page because they both know where they want to be," Meltzer said.

It emerged earlier this week that CM Punk was in the process of restructuring his current contract with WWE, with Punk having reportedly said that he wants to be with the company "forever" and eventually run NXT.

Punk made his return to WWE in November 2023 at Survivor Series. He has since been re-established as one of the company's top stars and he will have only his second televised match since his return at SummerSlam when he takes on Drew McIntyre. Punk has been out of action since his in-ring return at the Royal Rumble due to suffering a torn triceps.
