Roman Reigns: AEW's Jon Moxley Couldn't Be The Man In WWE Because I Am The Man

Moxley left WWE in 2019

Roman Reigns says that the former Dean Ambrose - Jon Moxley - would have wanted to be the top guy in WWE if he could have been, but it could not happen because that is the spot that Reigns himself occupies.

Ambrose left WWE upon the expiration of his contract in 2019, following WrestleMania 35, and signed for All Elite Wrestling not long after. As Jon Moxley, he became the second-ever AEW World Champion and has established himself as a top star in the promotion.

Reigns, who used to run with Moxley in The Shield, knows he is happy in AEW but - speaking in character - says there was never a chance of Moxley being the man in WWE.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on BT Sport, Reigns said: "Dean [Moxley], obviously, is doing what Dean is doing. I think he's happy over there at AEW. If he could have been the man here (in WWE), he would have been the man here, but he couldn't be the man because I'm the man.

"Seth Rollins is going through the same thing, but he's doing great. I can say that as someone who is still doing better than him. I'm the Universal Champion. I'm the Head of the Table. This is my company. He's still a great talent who is doing some of the best work of his career."

When asked about the last time he spoke to his former Shield brother, Reigns added: "It's been a while. The last time was around WrestleMania. I need to reach out to him and give him a congrats on the baby and everything.

"With everything going on and pandemic and being back on the road and dealing with John Cena, it's been a crazy quarter."
