Shayna Baszler Admits She Loved WWE Raw Underground

"I talk about finding my footing and feeling comfortable as myself, I think Raw Underground had a hand in that."

Over a two-month run in August and September 2020, Shane McMahon hosted his own shoot-style fight club, Raw Underground. Superstars like Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, Riddick Moss and Dabba-Kato were featured prominently in the segments and they often pulverised different enhancement talents.

The show never really caught on, though, and it ended up being cancelled following a COVID-19 outbreak because WWE wanted to keep NXT and main roster Superstars separated as much as possible.

Shayna Baszler also regularly competed in Raw Underground alongside Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke and the Women's Tag Team Champion recently admitted to Daily DDT that she loved the shoot-style fight club.

"I loved [Raw Underground]. I don't know what fans thought about it, but that's, like, the most comfortable I've felt. Obviously, you can bring up my MMA background and how I climbed my way... I was doing shows that looked almost exactly like [Raw] Underground in MMA that were just in a warehouse with people standing around with sign-up-at-the-door type stuff," Baszler said.

"That was very familiar to me. Even on top of that, coming up in pro wrestling, obviously being trained by Josh Barnett and Billy Robinson, that UWFI style is very Raw Underground. Honestly, I talk about finding my footing and feeling comfortable as myself, I think Raw Underground had a hand in that."
