SPOILER: Famous WCW Angle Recreated At WWE NXT Taping

A major WCW angle was brought back in WWE NXT

A famous angle will be recreated on the December 20 edition of WWE NXT.

The WWE developmental brand taped the final two NXT episodes of 2022 from the Performance Center on Wednesday, December 14. In the main event of the December 20 taping, Grayson Waller headed to the ring to call out Bron Breakker ahead of their NXT Championship match at New Year's Evil on January 10. This prompted Breakker to get out of his car in the parking lot and he immediately went to the ring and Speared Waller.

Breakker didn't move after hitting his finisher, though, and Waller ended the taping by revealing he had a metal plate under his jacket.

This, of course, is a direct recreation of the famous World Championship Wrestling angle between Bret Hart and Goldberg on the March 29, 1999 episode of Nitro. Hart, wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, derided the likes of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan before he called out Goldberg. Da' Man then headed to the ring and Speared Hart, only to be knocked out as Hart was wearing the jersey to hide a metal breastplate. Hart then counted his own pinfall on Goldberg before he 'quit' WCW, taking time off to undergo surgery.

Hart and Goldberg would restart their feud upon The Hitman's return later that year and they would face off in the main event of Starrcade, during which Da' Man caught Hart with a Superkick that left him with a serious concussion. The Hitman has yet to forgive Goldberg, constantly criticising him to this day.
