The Undertaker: I Wish I Could Work A Program In WWE With 'Great Heel' Roman Reigns

The Undertaker has revealed his pride in the work Roman Reigns is doing as a heel in WWE, wishing he was able to work a program with the current iteration of his character.

Reigns, since his return to WWE television last summer, has consistently been one of the most compelling elements of the product. His 'Tribal Chief' character has taken Reigns to new heights, standing atop of SmackDown as the Universal Champion alongside right-hand man Jey Uso and special counsel Paul Heyman.

Reigns was involved in The Undertaker's final few years as an active WWE talent, defeating him in the main event of WrestleMania 33 in what initially was going to be The Dead Man's retirement match, before tagging with him against Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon in a night where 'Taker visibly gave Reigns props following the bout.

Now 'Taker believes Reigns is doing the best work of his career, revealing his pride at what he has been able to create as a heel.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he said: "I’m so proud of where he is. The night of Survivor Series [in November], I went up to Roman and Jey and said, ‘This is the most compelling story that we’ve done in a while.’ And where he’s been able to take it, it’s so good. It’s not forced. Roman is hitting on all cylinders.

"Obviously, Paul Heyman is the perfect mouthpiece. He’s there whenever it’s needed, and he adds so much. They work so well together.

"I think he’s a great heel—coldhearted, calculated. There is a compelling backstory and you still feel the tension when Roman appears. Like I said, I’m really proud of him. I wish I had the gas in the tank to work a program with him now. It would definitely be something special."
