Tony Khan Turned Down CW Network Talks Over ROH TV Deal

Tony Khan allegedly turned down talks for an ROH TV deal with CW Network

The CW Network have doubled down on their commitments to the wrestling game, with the broadcaster set to air WWE NXT from October 2024.

Prior to the NXT deal being made public earlier this week, The CW were reportedly in advanced talks with NWA to air their content, with a new report from Haus of Wrestling suggesting The CW also spoke with Tony Khan.

Per the report, a ‘high level’ CW executive approached Khan in June 2022 with regards to bringing Ring of Honor TV to the network. Whilst it is unknown whether The CW were negotiating with NWA and/or WWE at this time, it is suggested that Khan declined further talks with The CW as he is waiting until a new All Elite Wrestling TV deal comes into play in 2024 before entertaining approaches for ROH.

Ring of Honor currently airs via ROH subscription service HonorClub, and the belief is that Khan feels that by waiting on any deal he’ll gain leverage, and therefore be able to charge more for any AEW and/or ROH broadcast deals, with more options in the marketplace assumed to become available.

The report states that Khan found the CW executive to be ‘very pleasant and someone he enjoyed visiting with’, but also felt it was not the right time to pursue a deal.
