Will Ospreay Announces New Promotion And Debut Show

Frontline Wrestling: Build Me An Empire

Will Ospreay has announced the debut show of his new promotion Frontline Wrestling.

The show, entitled 'Build Me An Empire', is set to take place on June 28th at Stratford Circus in London. Tickets are available here.

The line-up of the show has yet to be announced (although Ospreay himself will presumably be involved in some fashion), but the trailer makes extensive use of Japanese kanji symbols - perhaps hinting at appearances from some Japanese stars.

Ospreay is, of course, the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling - a title he won for the second time in an excellent four-way match at Wrestle Kingdom 12.

He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of high-flying wrestling, as well as one of the brightest young talents in the industry today. He has made appearances not only in New Japan, but also for promotions such as Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. He is also a favourite of the UK independent scene, wrestling for companies like PROGRESS, Revolution Pro Wrestling, and Defiant.

It remains to be seen how well Frontline Wrestling does in its early stages, but UK independent wrestling is still in the midst of a historic boom period, and with a recognised global star at the helm, it should certainly have substantial appeal already.

It seems important to note that despite this development, Ospreay is still an active member of the New Japan roster - having recently wrestled CHAOS stablemate Kazuchika Okada in the main event of the promotion's recent anniversary show.
