Will Ospreay Pulled From NJPW Wrestling Dontaku

No Will Ospreay at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku

A change has been made to the May 1 Wrestling Dontaku show.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced today that Will Ospreay has tested positive for COVID-19 and he won't be able to compete at Wrestling Dontaku as a result.

The Commonwealth Kingpin was set to face Hiroshi Tanahashi for the vacant IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship on the show. He will be replaced by Tomohiro Ishii, who has just finished his latest tour of the United States.

Tatsumi Fujinami has also been pulled from the opening contest of Wrestling Dontaku following his own positive COVID-19 test. The NJPW legend was scheduled to team with Shingo Takagi and BUSHI against Suzuki-gun's Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr., and TAKA Michinoku.

Fujinami will be replaced by a mystery participant.

Wrestling Dontaku will take place at the PayPay Dome on May 1. The show will be headlined by an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match between champion Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito.
