WWE Announces Hell In A Cell For June 20

The Devil's Playground comes earlier in 2021

During WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday night, it was announced that WWE Hell in a Cell would be taking place this year on Sunday night, June 20.

The event is expected to be held at the present Thunderdome location, the Yuengling Center in Tampa.

With the moving of Hell in a Cell to June, it's not clear where (if anywhere) Money in the Bank is going to land on the calendar.

The move comes amid a recent report claiming that Vince McMahon wanted to shake up the pay-per-view calendar, though specifics weren't known at the time.

Debuting as its own event in 2009, Hell in a Cell has taken place every year since then in the month of October (with the exception of 2018, when it was held in September). Generally, at least two matches take place within the titular structure.

Last year's Hell in a Cell saw Roman Reigns defeat Jey Uso in an "I Quit" match within the Cell, as well as Sasha Banks end Bayley's year-plus reign as SmackDown Women's champion, and Randy Orton capture the WWE title from Drew McIntyre.
