Rey And Dominik Mysterio Capture WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles At WrestleMania Backlash

The father and son duo reign together

Rey and Dominik Mysterio are the new SmackDown Tag Team champions, having defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode of The Dirty Dawgs at WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday night in Tampa.

Dominik was attacked backstage earlier in the night by the champions, leading to Rey apparently having to go it alone. Dominik eventually made it down to the ring as Rey went at it one-against-two.

The finish came when Rey hit Roode with a 619, leading to Dominik finishing with a frog splash.

With the victory, the Mysterios are the first father/son combination to reign as Tag Team champions in WWE history. Dominik also holds the distinction of being the youngest man to hold this particular version of the Tag Team titles, at age 24.

For Rey, it's his fifth Tag Team title reign in WWE, and his fifth different championship partner. Previously, Rey won Tag gold in the company with Edge, Rob Van Dam, Eddie Guerrero, and Batista.

Ziggler and Roode's reign ends after 129 days. They'd captured the belts on the January 8 episode of SmackDown from The Street Profits.
