WWE Raw Results - June 21, 2021

For the first time in a long time, WWE produced an episode of Monday Night Raw that was mostly worth watching. The show still had some of the usual bad segments, but this was balanced out with some very good in-ring action as the company got on the road to Money In The Bank. 

Kofi Kingston challenges Bobby Lashley to a WWE Championship Match

The reigning WWE Champion Bobby Lashley opened the show with MVP and his ho train following his win over Drew McIntyre at Hell In A Cell. After some gloating from the WWE Champion and his manager, they were about to toast their success until The New Day interrupted with some actual toast.

This led to a back and forth between The Hurt Business and The New Day during which Bobby Lashley claimed he wouldn't lose the WWE Title to someone like Kofi because Kingston is too busy making pancakes. Kofi, of course, pointed out that he is a former WWE Champion and defeated Lashley only a few weeks ago.

Kofi then challenged Lashley to a WWE Championship match at Money In The Bank, which Bobby immediately accepted. The challenges continued, though, and The All Mighty announced he wanted to face Xavier Woods tonight. Woods accepted and challenged Lashley to face him inside Hell In A Cell, which Lashley also accepted.

Ricochet def. AJ Styles – Money In The Bank Qualifying Match

The first match on the show followed and AJ Styles went one on one with Ricochet in a Money In The Bank Qualifying Match. 

Before the match got underway, though, a clip of Styles and Omos insulting The Viking Raiders backstage was aired. 

This foreshadowed the finish of the match as Ivar and Erik made their way to the ring and attacked Omos just as Styles set up for the Phenomenal Forearm. Omos was sent crashing through the barricade moments later and the demise of Styles' tag team partner provided enough of a distraction for Ricochet to catch AJ with Recoil as the two-time WWE Champion went for the Phenomenal Forearm. The One And Only then covered Styles for the win. 

A backstage interview with Eva Marie and her 'protégé' was next on the show. All Red Everything claimed she couldn't wrestle last week because she had a cold. She then introduced per protégé and Niven was about to call herself Piper, but Marie interrupted and revealed her name was Doudrop while the former NXT UK Superstar looked on appalled. 

Naomi & Asuka def. Eva Marie & Doudrop – Money In The Bank Qualifying Match

The problems between Eva Marie and Doudrop continued into their match. Marie looked set to begin the contest but she immediately tagged in Doudrop. The former NXT UK Superstar then dominated Asuka and Naomi and was about to put Naomi away when Marie tagged herself back into the match. 

Naomi kicked out to Marie's dismay and Eva moved to tag Doudrop but Niven dropped off the apron. This allowed Naomi to roll up Marie for the 1-2-3. 

Adam Pearce & Sonya Deville address Rhea Ripley's actions at Hell In A Cell 

After a break, Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville summoned Rhea Ripley to the ring to tell her what she did at Hell In A Cell was unacceptable. Ripley claimed Charlotte Flair would not have been reprimanded for getting herself intentionally disqualified, which, of course, led to an interruption from The Queen. 

Flair admitted Ripley was smarter than she gave her credit for. Even so, Flair claimed she was still going to destroy the Raw Women's Champion. Sonya Deville then granted Flair a rematch for the title at Money In The Bank. 

Natalya & Tamina and Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke were involved in a backstage segment next. The Women's Tag Team Champions were being interviewed but they couldn't be heard over Rose and Brooke training in a nearby ring. This led to a confrontation and Rose and Brooke stood tall after knocking the champions off the apron. 

John Morrison def. Randy Orton – Money In The Bank Qualifying Match

The next Money In The Bank Qualifying Match followed after the break and both men wrestled back and forth. 

Orton looked to have the match won, though, after he decked Morrison with a Draping DDT and set up for the RKO. The Viper didn't hit the move, however, as The Miz suddenly sprayed him with the drip stick. 

This brought out Riddle on his scooter and The Original Bro chased the wheelchair-bound Miz around ringside, distracting Orton in the process. This allowed Morrison to deck Orton on the apron and Johnny Drip Drip followed up with Starship Pain for the victory. 

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross def. Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax – Money In The Bank Qualifying Match 

Before the next match, Nikki Cross, dressed in a superhero outfit, revealed she felt a spark after beating Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair. This inspired her to don the new attire, she claimed. 

The in-ring action followed and both teams fought back and forth until the spooky shenanigans came into play down the stretch. 

Baszler went to punch Cross during the finish but Nikki ducked, causing The Queen Of Spades to almost hit her tag team partner.

As a result, an angry Jax dropped to the floor and stood alongside Reginald just as Alexa Bliss possessed him, causing the sommelier to almost slap Jax. Nia and Reggie then embraced and Mighty Nikki caught them with a Dropkick through the ropes. Cross then rolled up Baszler for the 1-2-3. 

Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville caught up with Drew McIntyre next on the show and they told him he didn't have to wrestle tonight. The Scottish Warrior admitted he wasn't in peak physical condition but he said he would never surrender while quoting Winston Churchill. Drew's streak of quoting British historical figures continues.  

Pearce and Deville were then stopped by Jeff Hardy, Sheamus, Cedric Alexander and Jinder Mahal who all believed they should be in Money In The Bank Qualifying Matches. Sheamus was extra persistent until Adam Pearce pointed out this meant he could defend the United States Title, which prompted The Celtic Warrior to claim his nose was still in tatters before he skulked away. Deville then announced all the decisions were final. Jinder Mahal asked to be kept in mind should an alternate be needed, though.  

Riddle def. Drew McIntyre - Money In The Bank Qualifying Match

Drew McIntyre and Riddle put together a very good back and forth match next on the show. They wrestled for 20 minutes and McIntyre, already worn down from his Hell In A Cell match, was unable to pick up the win. 

Drew repeatedly failed to connect with the Claymore down the stretch as Riddle managed to block it. Drew then hoisted Riddle into an Electric Chair after he escaped the Bromission but the former United States Champion countered into a victory roll for the 1-2-3. 

Riddle moved to celebrate with Randy Orton after the match but The Viper refused to acknowledge his tag team partner. McIntyre looked absolutely crushed following the loss. 

The main event was then coming up but WWE had a backstage segment to get to first. 

New babyface Jaxson Ryker was shown whipping himself backstage like a perfectly normal person. Mansoor approached Ryker to seek advice and the former Forgotten Son told him never to let his enemies escape. Ryker then revealed he will face Elias next week in a Strap Match. 

Mansoor bumped into Mustafa Ali shortly after and the former RETRIBUTION leader told him he was asking all of the wrong questions. Ali then said he and Mansoor will have to build their own ladder of success while Ryker continued to whip himself in the background. 

Also set for next week's Raw was AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre in a Last Chance Money In The Bank Qualifying Match.

Bobby Lashley def. Xavier Woods – Hell In A Cell Match

The first Hell In A Cell Match on Raw since August 1998 took place in the main event. 

Both Bobby Lashley and Xavier Woods battered each other in what was likely Woods' most important singles match of his WWE career.

The G4 host even thought he had the match won down the stretch as he put Lashley through a table with a Flying Elbow Drop, but The All Mighty managed to kick out at the last moment. 

This was as close as Woods came as Lashley threw the New Day man into a steel chair and decimated him with a Spear moments later. The WWE Champion then picked up Woods and applied the Hurt Lock to win the match.

Lashley didn't let up after the bell, though, as he smashed Woods into the cell and applied the Hurt Lock again as the 12-time tag team champion passed out. 

Kofi tried desperately to get to his tag team partner but MVP locked himself and Lashley in the cell and Kingston screamed for The All Mighty to let Woods go as Raw went off the air.
