Backstage 'Frustration' In WWE Over SmackDown Censoring

Those in WWE weren't happy with FOX's SmackDown censorship

For those watching the June 28 edition of Friday Night SmackDown on its FOX broadcast in the United States, the viewing experience was certainly different to many of those watching elsewhere. During the show there was heavy censorship - something which has been commonplace for the last several months due to swearing either from the chanting in the crowd or from the wrestlers themselves. The cutting out of sound has made for an uncomfortable viewing for some, and those in WWE are not happy with it.

A report from Fightful Select has revealed the frustration from several WWE sources due to the censorship and editing which took place across Friday’s show. A WWE talent, who was reportedly not at SmackDown, reached out to Fightful and noted that the show is sometimes a chore to watch.

“I understand censoring 'f*ck the Pacers,' but it feels like every segment is edited and it makes us look like it's our production."

WWE will be moving Friday Night SmackDown away from FOX in the near future, returning to the USA Network in September of 2024.
