Batista: Retirement Has Zero Credibility in Professional Wrestling

Former WWE superstar Batista has reiterated that he is retired from professional wrestling, and says the word 'retirement' has zero credibility in the sport. 

Batista quietly retired from in-ring competition following his WrestleMania 35 match against Triple H, having previously openly spoken of his desire to be retired by the superstar who helped to make his career during their time together in Evolution in the early 2000s. 

Paul Wight's announcement that All Elite Wrestling would be bringing in a Hall Of Fame-worthy talent this Sunday at AEW: Revolution has led to speculation over who the wrestler could be. With the former 'Big Show' accidentally saying 'Evolution' during his promo, one fan theorised that Batista could be making his way to AEW. 

However the 52-year-old took to social media to state that his decision to leave wrestling behind was permanent, with Dave Bautista now focusing on his acting career. 

With the likes of Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Mick Foley and other legends all supposedly 'retiring' from the ring before returning, the former World Heavyweight Champion recognised that merely saying he was retired does not hold much weight by wrestling standards.

Writing on Twitter he said: "They’re going to have to come up with another word that's used specifically for professional wrestlers who actually mean it when they say they’re retired. Currently the word 'retired' has zero credibility by professional wrestling standards."
