Britt Baker Felt She Had Become Stale Before AEW Hiatus

Britt Baker felt her AEW run had become stale before hiatus

Britt Baker’s rise in All Elite Wrestling was one of the most celebrated runs in early AEW history, with Baker’s participation in blood-stained wars against Thunder Rosa helping further establish AEW’s women’s division, with Baker becoming the face of the division in the process.

However, prior to taking an extended hiatus from AEW due to health concerns in 2023, Baker had slipped down the pecking order a little, with Baker herself revealing to Renee Paquette on Close Up that she felt like her run had become stale:

“It was time to let everything heal and just mentally, emotionally, get in tune with myself again because you do kind of lose yourself at some point. It felt like I was I was stale. I was stagnant with who I am as a performer and I needed time away to be reinvigorated again and to find myself again,” said Baker.

Baker last wrestled in September 2023 before taking time off to rehab a torn labrum and herniated discs, with Baker later suffering a TIA or ‘mini stroke’.

Baker would eventually return to AEW at Forbidden Door on June 30, and has since entered a feud with TBS Champion Mercedes Moné.
