Cody Rhodes & CM Punk's WWE SummerSlam 2024 Plans Revealed

Plans revealed for Cody Rhodes & CM Punk at WWE SummerSlam 2024

WWE SummerSlam is set for August 3, with the ‘Biggest party of the Summer’ set for Cleveland Browns Stadium in Ohio.

Many have assumed that Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will face off at the show, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some more light on plans for Punk at SummerSlam.

Meltzer confirms that WWE are planning Punk vs. McIntyre, hypothesising that Punk cost Drew the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle as Punk may win, and it could be too soon for Punk to win the title. Also as King of the Ring winner Gunther is getting a title shot at SummerSlam due to his victory in the tournament, it would have complicated the McIntyre/Punk dynamic.

All this, of course, hinges on whether Punk will be cleared to make an in-ring return, with Punk himself hoping to be given the green light soon.

Meltzer’s report also suggests that Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa is earmarked for SummerSlam, as is Logan Paul vs. LA Knight, with WWE looking to run both these bouts at SummerSlam instead of the forthcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view on July 6 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
