CM Punk Close To Being Cleared For WWE In-Ring Return

CM Punk looking to be cleared for WWE in-ring return

CM Punk will look to get medically cleared for an in-ring return in the next week.

Following a question from Cultaholic Wrestling's Fraser Porter at the post-Clash at the Castle press conference, Punk said:

"I've been cleared only for referee duty. I had a little bit of a hiccup out there so we'll go back to the lab to reassess. I can tell you that my arm feels amazing. I got permission to skip Raw in Corpus Christi (June 17) to go home to Chicago to see my doctors with the idea that I'm going to be cleared. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that but throughout my career saying stuff I'm not supposed to say has kind of done me well so why stop now? I think SmackDown is in Chicago next week. So I'm a Raw guy, I'm going to skip Raw, I'm gonna get cleared and then I'm gonna hopefully show up to SmackDown and let everybody know the good news, hopefully."

That "hiccup" was CM Punk costing Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Clash at the Castle against Damian Priest. The referee took a bump during the closing moments of the match, just before Drew McIntyre caught Damian Priest with a second Claymore.

A second referee then sprinted to the ring and counted 1-2, only to stop before the three count as they were revealed to be CM Punk. The Voice of the Voiceless then decked McIntyre with a Low Blow which left McIntyre open for a second South of Heaven from Damian Priest. The original referee counted the winning pinfall for Priest as McIntyre, once again, ended Clash at the Castle on the losing side.

CM Punk has been out of action since January's Royal Rumble, having suffered a torn triceps following a Futureshock DDT during the men's Royal Rumble match. Punk and McIntyre have been feuding on TV ever since, even despite their respective injuries in recent months.
