Corey Graves Wanted To Be Bobby Lashley's Manager In WWE

Corey Graves has revealed he was pushing to be Bobby Lashley's manager in WWE prior to MVP taking the role last year. 

Lashley and MVP linked up in May 2020, sowing the seeds for what would eventually become The Hurt Business, alongside Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin, which in turn would lead to Lashley winning his first WWE Championship last week on Raw. 

Having MVP as his mouth-piece has allowed Lashley to focus on his dominating in-ring persona, something that commentator Graves said he wanted to see from the 44-year-old as well. 

The former NXT superstar, who has been a part of the commentary team since retiring from in-ring competition in 2014, revealed that he offered himself up to be Lashley's mouth-piece and do the taking for the new WWE Champion. 

Graves said on his After The Bell Podcast: "It was mid-pandemic. When we were doing shows at the Performance Center every week and Lashley was there, and I don't want to say floundering, but weren't necessarily doing what you wanted to be doing and in the spotlight. 

"I told anyone who would listen, 'let me talk for Bobby Lashley. Let me be the manager and let Bobby beat people up.' It wasn't me, but hypothetically, I could have been managing the WWE Champion right now."
