Halloween Havoc Match Reportedly The First Step In Making Bron Breakker 'The Guy' In WWE NXT

Breakker was defeated by Tommaso Ciampa in the main event

Bron Breakker's NXT Championship match against Tommaso Ciampa at Halloween Havoc 2021 was reportedly the first step in making him 'the guy' in NXT.

Breakker has been booked to look like a star since making his debut on NXT 2.0 following the relaunch of the brand last month, with the son of Rick Steiner booked to challenge for the NXT Tile just a few weeks following his debut. 

With NXT 2.0 heading in a new direction, highlighting younger talent, many fans expected Breakker to defeat Ciampa for the NXT Title on Tuesday night but, while the 24-year-old lost the match, the bout is reportedly part of a wider plan. 

According to WrestleVotes, Halloween Havoc was utilised to be the launching of the Bron Breakker era in NXT. While this didn't necessarily mean he would be leaving as champion, it was intended to the the first step in making the youngster 'the guy' on the brand.

The report does note that there were discussions about Breakker getting the NXT Title at Halloween Havoc, but the decision was made to a take a longer-term approach to the booking.
