New Champions Crowned On WWE SmackDown
SmackDown saw a big title change take place
On the eve of the Money In The Bank 2024 premium live event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, WWE brought an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and it was a night which saw a big title change.
In the main event match of the show, A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) put their WWE Tag Team Championships on the line against DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa). The ending of the match saw the action break down with a whole lot of chaos, which led to Gargano & Ciampa gaining an advantage. There were some near-falls, with Theory helping to keep his team in it, but in the end DIY hit stereo submission moves to win the match and become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
This is their first tag team title reign since they won NXT Tag Team Championship gold in NXT all the way back in 2016 - that victory just so happened to come in the very same arena.
The reign of Theory & Waller comes to an end after 90 days. They won the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 40 before the belts were redesigned and renamed.
