Kofi Kingston To Undergo Surgery

Kofi Kingston needs surgery on his ankle

Kofi Kingston is set to undergo surgery.

In a Twitter post about the kindness of strangers in Birmingham, Alabama, the former WWE Champion confirmed he will undergo surgery on Friday, March 17 to repair his ankle.

Kingston noted on Thursday, in part: "Tomorrow, we march forward and into the hands of the best in the world at what he does! Let's get this ankle right!"

The New Day member sustained the ankle injury on the March 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown during a brawl with Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight, Karrion Kross, and New Day faction-mate Xavier Woods. The injury occurred after McIntyre performed an over-the-top-rope flip dive onto several people. Kofi's injury was described as a "fluke deal."

Kingston was scheduled to compete in a Five-Way against McIntyre, Sheamus, Kross, and LA Knight for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 on the March 10 SmackDown. He was pulled from the match due to his injury and replaced by Xavier Woods.
