North American Title Vacated On WWE NXT

A new North American Champion will be crowned

Only one week after he won the gold, Solo Sikoa was forced to vacate the North American Championship on Tuesday's episode of NXT.

The show opened with Solo Sikoa and Carmelo Hayes in Shawn Michaels' office, during which the WWE Hall of Famer said Sikoa would have to vacate the title because he was not an option in last week's fan vote to determine who Carmelo Hayes would defend the championship against. Sikoa begrudgingly relinquished the title but after Hayes asked for the belt to be returned to him, Michaels told him no as he had "played the system" and been burned.

Instead, a new champion will be crowned at Halloween Havoc in a Ladder Match where Hayes will face four opponents. Oro Mensah qualified for the match with a win over Grayson Waller and more qualifying matches will be held in the coming weeks.

Sikoa's title win came as somewhat of a surprise as he had recently been called up to the main roster, debuting at Clash At The Castle and helping Roman Reigns retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship over Drew McIntyre. Sikoa did defend the North American Title once during his short reign, defeating Madcap Moss on SmackDown.
