Report: Major Update On Stone Cold Steve Austin's WWE WrestleMania 39 Status

Steve Austin not wrestling at WWE WrestleMania 39

After being pitched matches with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 39, Stone Cold Steve Austin has decided not to wrestle at the Show of Shows, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Austin could still be involved at 'Mania in some capacity, though.

"As far as Austin goes, Steve might be at the show. I wouldn't be surprised at all. He might do something on the show but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show. He was offered Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns. He could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else but he did not choose to wrestle on the show," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

The Texas Rattlesnake came out of retirement at WrestleMania 38, defeating Kevin Owens in an impromptu No Holds Barred Match. WWE had wanted Austin to return at WrestleMania 39 and Stone Cold looked to be in the best shape in years during recent training videos, although any training seemingly isn't for an in-ring return.

Matches already announced for WrestleMania 39 include Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Univeral Championship and Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women's Title.
