Report: Mercedes Moné Set To Become A Free Agent

Mercedes Moné looks set to leave NJPW/STARDOM

While she has signed a new deal with New Japan Pro-Wrestling/STARDOM, Mercedes Moné is still set to become a free agent.

According to Fightful Select, Moné's extension covers her match at NJPW Resurgence in Long Beach, California on May 21. How long exactly the new deal runs is unknown but she isn't scheduled to have any more matches in Japan for "at least a while" and she has no more dates with STARDOM.

Both STARDOM and Moné are open to working together again in the future but it would "likely require a bigger renegotiation after the business she drew there." People within STARDOM and NJPW were also positive about Moné backstage, noting she appeared to enjoy her time in the promotions.

How involved Moné will be in pro wrestling after May 21 is unknown. She has reportedly been working on more TV and film projects.

Moné has been a part of NJPW/STARDOM since January 4's Wrestle Kingdom 17. She reigned as IWGP Women's Champion for 64 days, winning the belt from KAIRI at Battle in the Valley on February 18. She dropped the belt to Mayu Iwatani on April 23 at All Star Grand Queendom.
