Report: More On Why Sasha Banks & Naomi Walked Out Of WWE Raw

The latest on Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of WWE Raw

Further details about why Sasha Banks and Naomi decided to walk out of WWE Raw on Monday have emerged.

The Women's Tag Team Champions opted to leave the building during this week's broadcast of Raw after WWE had announced they would be in action in the main event as participants in a Six-Pack Challenge with Becky Lynch, Asuka, Nikki ASH, and Doudrop. The match would have crowned a new number one contender for the Raw Women's Title and while Naomi and Sasha Banks wouldn't have interacted in the contest, Naomi was booked to win by pinning Nikki ASH.

Banks and Naomi reportedly had a meeting with Vince McMahon upon finding out about WWE's plans and the crux of the Women's Tag Team Champions' unhappiness stemmed from their concerns over the direction of their tag team and the women's tag team division. A report from Dave Meltzer also noted a contract issue with Naomi and Banks was a factor in their decision to walk out.

In an update on why Banks and Naomi left the building, Fightful Select reiterated that Naomi was scheduled to pin Nikki ASH to win the match, contrary to other reports that she was set to pin Sasha Banks. They also stated that Naomi was set to lose to Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair at Hell In A Cell and her and Banks' issue with WWE was that the Women's Tag Team Titles were set to be de-emphasised in the coming weeks with no plan laid out for after the June 5 pay-per-view.

Furthermore, PWInsider reported that some in WWE believe Banks would have entered her own singles title programme with SmackDown Women's Champion Ronda Rousey, which would have also resulted in a loss for The Boss.

An alternative Raw match was pitched for Banks and Naomi which would have seen them compete in a short tag team contest and be beaten down to set up their next storyline. Those plans ultimately weren't actioned on.
