Report: Update On The Rock's Potential Return At WWE Royal Rumble

Latest on The Rock to WWE

Could fans be smelling what The Rock is cooking at the Royal Rumble?

There has been much speculation about The Rock's WWE future in recent years, with both The Brahma Bull and WWE said to be interested in having him face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 in Inglewood, California.

An obvious way to build to a Rock vs. Reigns match would be to have the Hollywood star win the 2023 Men's Royal Rumble and Dave Meltzer recently noted there is always the chance of The Rock turning up at the January pay-per-view.

In an update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that a Rock return at the Rumble has been discussed within WWE but it's been talked about as a pie-in-the-sky scenario for The Great One to be the surprise number 30 entrant and win the match. There is no real confirmation if those plans are official beyond the rumour, though.

WWE are reportedly looking to pretty much finalise their WrestleMania 39 plans by mid-January and any potential involvement from The Rock would need to be in place by then.

The Rock has not appeared on WWE TV since October 2019, although the company did celebrate the 25-year anniversary of his debut at the 2021 Survivor Series.
