Report: Vince McMahon Assured Lana Her WWE Character Had A Future

WWE’s talent releases are always a shock to fans and superstars alike, and the latest roster cut was no different, with the releases of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, Murphy, Lana, and Santana Garrett all somewhat surprising.
In the case of Lana, the release was surely a shock, with reports from Fightful Select claiming that Vince McMahon himself had made assurances to the Ravishing Russian about her character’s future.
Lana was heavily featured on WWE television in 2020 and 2021, memorably being put through tables by Nia Jax week after week on Raw. It was believed that this angle was to make Lana a sympathetic babyface, and that there were vastly different plans for Lana earlier this year before Charlotte Flair returned. Fightful’s report says that Vince McMahon assured Lana that this would not be the end of her character and that there would be more in store for her down the line.
The report also states that Lana and tag-partner Naomi were constantly pitching ideas and angles for their team, and would constantly try to ensure they were doing something meaningful on TV.
