Report: Why Drew McIntyre Missed WWE House Shows Revealed

Drew McIntyre was absent from two WWE shows

While Drew McIntyre made an appearance on Friday's episode of SmackDown from Salt Lake City, the two-time WWE Champion was absent from the weekend's house shows in Stockton and Fresno, California.

According to PWInsider, McIntyre missed the shows because he was very ill with severe food poisoning. He managed to work SmackDown, being hooked up to an IV to get him through the show. WWE decided to send him home for rest following SmackDown and Braun Strowman replaced The Scottish Warrior at the house shows.

Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported that McIntyre's condition had improved to a degree by Sunday and the hope is he will be able to travel to San Antonio for media appearances to promote the Royal Rumble. It is hoped he will be at SmackDown and the upcoming weekend's house shows too.

McIntyre remains one of WWE's top stars and he is currently locked in a feud with Karrion Kross. They will clash at Extreme Rules on October 8 in a Strap Match.
