Report: WWE Making Further Cutbacks Today

Following on from April 15...

Earlier today, Gerald Brisco revealed on Twitter that he had been released by WWE after a 36-year run with the company.

He tweeted: "Ok, want to get this out the right way. Last night I received a call from @wwe Chairman Of The board @VinceMcMahon to let me know after 36 years of dedication to @wwe i an no longer needed. I'm ok with this. I will still be around to help talent. More info will follow. Thanks."

Mike Johnson at PWInsider has since reported Brisco won't be the only employee let go by WWE today as his release is part of "another round of financial cutbacks." Johnson noted he has been unable to confirm how widespread the releases will be or if any Superstars will be let go.

This comes after WWE made company-wide cutbacks earlier this year on April 15. During that round of cuts, 37 Superstars were released including The Good Brothers, Heath, Miro, EC3, Eric Young, Tay Conti and Deonna Purrazzo. Nine producers were also furloughed while Kurt Angle and Mike Chioda were let go. Many people who were released have since found new homes in IMPACT Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.
