Report: WWE SmackDown's Urine Segment Violated FOX's Standards And Practices

On last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Sheamus and Jeff Hardy met in the centre of the ring ahead of their match at the Backlash pay-per-view for a contract signing. The Celtic Warrior was accompanied to the squared circle by a doctor and security guards and announced he would only fight Hardy if The Charismatic Enigma could pass a urine test. 

This exchange ended after Jeff provided a sample and threw it in Sheamus's face. WWE aired a similar segment back in 2006 when Shawn Michaels threw urine at Vince McMahon, but times have seemingly changed as Hardy's confrontation with Sheamus was heavily edited on the west coast of the United States. As the three-time world champion went to throw the urine, the broadcast suddenly cut to an advert break and returned after the Irishman was soaked with pee. 

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio the segment was edited because it violated FOX's standards and practices and should have been altered on both the west coast and east coast feed. This means WWE will only be able to do a segment or match involving bodily fluids on the USA Network going forward.

Meltzer said: "It aired on the east coast but not the west coast. FOX decreed that it violated their standards and practices so they threw a commercial in so we didn't get to see it on the west coast… I guess they didn't know that urine tossing is not allowed on the FOX network during a wrestling show, and now they know so they can't do it anymore."
