Roman Reigns Withdraws Eligibility From The WWE Draft

Roman Reigns won't be getting drafted to RAW or SmackDown

WWE held the first rounds of the 2024 Draft last night on Friday Night SmackDown, and despite there being not too many big changes, several notable names were sorted onto RAW and SmackDown such as Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, LA Knight, The Bloodline, and AJ Styles. Going into the Draft, it was made clear that champions (aside from the Women’s Tag Team Champions) were exempt from being drafted, though there was someone else who ended up being left alone too.

In a backstage segment on SmackDown last night, Paul Heyman revealed that Roman Reigns had withdrawn his eligibility from the WWE Draft, proving to still have some sway despite no longer being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. This reason behind this move offered some insight on Reigns’ current status as a performer, as it was revealed that Reigns would be not returning to a WWE ring for the “immediate future”.

Ever since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, Reigns has been completely absent from WWE programming. These comments by Paul Heyman confirm previous reports that Reigns would be off TV for an indefinite amount of time, with it currently being unclear when he will return, though he is currently advertised for shows in August.
