Scott D’Amore wants to promote a Mercedes Moné vs. Mickie James match
Since arriving in New Japan pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, the whole wrestling world has been talking about Mercedes Moné, with the former WWE star going on to win the IWGP Women’s Championship at Battle in the Valley in February.
Whilst Moné is set to continue plying her trade in NJPW, the possibility of wrestling elsewhere keeps rearing its head, especially due to the close working relationship NJPW enjoys with the likes of AEW, ROH, CMLL, and IMPACT Wrestling amongst others.
As for IMPACT, IMPACT VP Scott D’Amore would gladly have Moné wrestle in an IMPACT ring, saying the following on Busted Open Radio:
"Got to meet Mercedes [at Battle in the Valley], our paths had never crossed. Obviously, I'm a huge fan of her and everything she's done. It was a great opportunity to meet her and chat with her after an unbelievable match with her and KAIRI. I don't think KAIRI has ever gotten the love and respect she deserves. She's outstanding. That elbow of hers is among the best in the business and maybe the coolest to watch. Her and Mercedes went out there in front of a packed crowd and put on a world title match that I thought was outstanding. The wrestling was amazing, the emotion was fantastic. Talking to her afterward, Mercedes is obviously a very focused and passionate professional. Her wrestling is top notch, her attitude seemed great," D’Amore said.
Moné previously revealed that she’d like to wrestle IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James, and D’Amore wants to make it happen; "We have to get you two in a ring somewhere and get this done,” said D’Amore to James on the show.
