Taichi Wants Holy Demon Army To Appear At NJPW Wrestle Grand Slam In Tokyo Dome

Taichi also wants to face Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada

Dangerous Tekkers have an IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Title defence against Tetsuya Naito and SANADA on July 10 at Summer Struggle in Sapporo, but Taichi is already looking beyond the match to Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome.

Taichi wants to next defend the gold on July 25 and he told Tokyo Sports he would like legendary tag team the Holy Demon Army of Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue to at least make an appearance at the event.

Taichi said (translated using DeepL): "At least Kawada and Taue should come to the Dome to see us, and show us how we are the strongest tag team in the world."

Kawada mentored Taichi during the early portion of The World's Sliest Wrestler's career and Taichi has previously campaigned for a match against the retired tag team.

While he doesn't have Taue and Kawada in mind as opponents, Taichi would like to defend the tag team championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada inside the Tokyo Dome.

"If Okada is free, I'd be happy to be his opponent," Taichi added. "Okada and Tanahashi would be a good match, worthy of the title of IWGP World's Strongest Tag Team. Okada's never been in a tag team before, so why don't you want him?"

If Taichi will get either of his wishes remains to be seen. Already added to the Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome card is an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match between Shingo Takagi and Kota Ibushi, as well as a New Japan Ranbo for the KOPW 2021 Trophy on the pre-show.
