William Regal Comments On His WWE Exit

Regal has nothing to knock when it comes to his WWE tenure

Current AEW star William Regal recently opened up on his WWE departure.

Discussing his upcoming podcast Gentleman Villain during an interview with Chris Mueller of B/R, the former King of the Ring said that he will not be using the platform to criticise his former employer.

"I've got nothing to knock. People ask me 'well you have just been let go from WWE'. Well yeah. I had a job there for 21 years. What have I got to say that's bad about WWE? And any of these horror stories people hear about, I didn't have any of them. I had an incredible run on the main roster with the understanding that I walked in, you know I don't count the first time I was there because I can't remember it, and that's on me"

Regal previously worked for WWE in 1998, but was released in early '99 due to substance abuse problems.

After successfully completing a rehabilitation programme, he was re-hired in early 2000 and lasted until January 5, 2022, when he was released.

As well as wrestling, the two-time Intercontinental Champion also performed as an authority figure on both Raw and NXT. He was also influential in recruiting and training talent at the WWE Performance Center.
