WWE Announces New Year's Day PPV For 2022

No name has been given for the event

It was announced during Friday night's episode of SmackDown that WWE will be hosting a pay-per-view on New Year's Day 2022.

The presently-unnamed event will be held at State Farm Arena on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Tickets for the event will go on sale at 10 AM eastern time on Friday, August 27.

The announcement for the event was made by Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, during a video that aired at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami. The video was introduced by Bianca Belair, following her successful SmackDown Women's title defense over Carmella.

It will be WWE's first pay-per-view to emanate from Atlanta since the 2015 Survivor Series. It will mark the first time that WWE airs a traditional pay-per-view in January besides the Royal Rumble since 2007, when they ran the third and final New Year's Revolution that year.

The September 17 episode of WWE SmackDown was set to air from the State Farm Arena, but shortly before the general ticket sale, it was announced that the event was being moved. That episode is now expected to take place in Knoxville, TN.
