WWE Breaks Another Record With SmackDown In France

WWE SmackDown in France made history

WWE hosted an episode of Friday Night SmackDown in France for the first time ever last night as the company took over the LDLC Arena in Lyon ahead of the Backlash premium live event tonight.

An absolutely wild French crowd elevated the show, singing Randy Orton’s theme song, going wild for Bayley, and giving their own flavour of support all night long. The show saw a face-off between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and his upcoming challenger AJ Styles, a big brawl between The Bloodline and Randy Orton & Kevin Owens, a huge multi-woman tag team match as Bayley, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi defeated Damage CTRL, and a WWE Tag Team Championship match as A-Town Down Under defeated The Street Profits.

This wasn’t just a good show on paper and because of the loud crowd, but it was a highly profitable one for WWE too. On commentary, Corey Graves revealed that this was the highest grossing episode of SmackDown in WWE history, beating the previous record held by the go-home episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania 40. The figures for this show have not been revealed, but it looked to be a very successful night for WWE.
