Report: Major Unhappiness Within WWE Over The Rock's Boom Comments

The Rock reportedly has heat for his comments about making wrestling "cool" again

The Rock has been heavily featured in the news over the last week, with some reports suggesting that he has had awful lateness on movie sets, though those in WWE refuted claims that he was late or unprofessional when it came to WrestleMania weekend. Additionally, reports emerged that The Rock had lobbied for and was even planned at one stage to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, before relinquishing the Undisputed WWE Championship and instead branding himself “The People’s Champion”.

This isn’t the only negative report following The Rock, as Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter commented that there were many in WWE who took issue with The Rock’s attempts to take credit for making wrestling “cool again”, especially WWE was on a roll in the year prior to The Rock’s return. According to Meltzer, one person stated “His attempt at taking all the credit for this little minor league bullsh*t industry that he himself has elevated with his enormous star presence has really left a terrible taste in everyone’s mouth in WWE.”

There is an understanding though that The Rock has brought benefits to WWE since his return, and that not everything about his comeback has been negatively viewed.
