WWE have denied a claim that The Rock was three hours late arriving to Lincoln Financial Field ahead of his main event match on night one of WrestleMania 40. The Rock teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins to close out the April 6 portion of WrestleMania XL.

The claim of Rock's tardiness was made in a report from TheWrap which stated that two insiders told them Rock was three hours late for Mania. Dwayne Johnson being two hours late for his segment at WWE World at WrestleMania 40 was also mentioned, although this was played up for The Rock's heel persona at the time. A WWE insider told TheWrap that Rock was late due to other WWE commitments and traffic in Philadelphia.

WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations Chris Legentil has denied Dwayne Johnson was late for WrestleMania, saying: "Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal - and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run."

The Rock made his return to WWE in January 2024 and he was appointed to the TKO Board of Directors later that month. The Rock has remained involved with WWE since exiting TV and he sent Drew McIntyre a sword after the former WWE Champion re-signed with the company.

On-screen, The Rock has been off TV since the Raw after WrestleMania where he set up a future match with Cody Rhodes. The expectation is the match will take place at WrestleMania 41 although another match in 2024 for The Rock has not been ruled out.

The Rock is set to begin shooting on 'The Smashing Machine', a biopic on former UFC fighter Mark Kerr, that will last until August 1. Following this, he is expected to be involved with production on the live-action Moana.
