WWE Files Trademarks For Various Former WCW PPV Names
Somebody else filed for them previously...
On November 2, WWE filed six new trademarks on former WCW properties (the majority of them being former pay-per-view names) as noted in a report from Heel By Nature.
The event names in question are Slamboree, Bunkhouse Stampede, Battlebowl, SuperBrawl, Bash at the Beach, and The Match Beyond (the latter being a sub-header for War Games matches).
Cody Rhodes previously filed trademarks on all six of those properties, but has since abandoned his filings on all but Bash at the Beach.
Rhodes spent several months fighting to trademark Bash at the Beach, which the United States Patent and Trademark Office denied, due to similarity to WWE's trademark of "The Bash".
Back in January of this year, AEW ran a pair of special Dynamite episodes using the Bash at the Beach title, including one in Miami, and another on a cruise ship.
It's believed that WWE and Rhodes struck some kind of deal, in which Rhodes dropped his claim on the trademarks in allowance for him to regain the Rhodes surname. WWE abandoned their claim on "Cody Rhodes" earlier this week.
