WWE Planning To Make NXT Ring Announcer Change

Changes being made to WWE NXT ring announcer

WWE are planning to make a change to NXT.

According to Fightful Select, SmackDown ring announcer Mike Rome is set to head to NXT for ring-announcing duties. He was expected to move as soon as the April 30 episode of NXT but Rome was not on the show as regular NXT ring announcer Alica Taylor was at the WWE Performance Center for the pre and post-match announcements.

Why WWE have decided to make the change is unknown. Mike Rome was the NXT ring announcer from 2016 until 2019 when he moved to Raw ring-announcing duties. Rome switched to SmackDown in 2023.

Alicia Taylor has been the ring announcer on NXT since 2019, replacing Kayla Braxton. Her future with WWE is unknown as of the time of writing.

Another change within WWE NXT will see the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion crowned at NXT Battleground on June 9. The Tuesday night show's next major event will emanate from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new belt will serve as the secondary title in the NXT women's division, behind only the NXT Women's Championship that is currently held by Roxanne Perez.
