Randy Orton Set For WWE NXT Match

Randy Orton will step into an NXT ring for the first time in over a decade.

WWE star Randy Orton is set to compete for the company's so-called third brand when NXT swings by his home state of Missouri.

On last night's edition of NXT, Je'Von Evans asked NXT General Manager Ava for a match on the show in Chesterfield on October 8. After Evans had teamed with Cedric Alexander to defeat Tavion Heights and Myles Borne, it was revealed that The Viper would be Je'Von's opponent in three weeks' time.

Orton tweeted "Hey Je'Von - Want to know who your opponent is? See you in St. Louis on October 8th kid" during the show.

The 44-year-old has only wrestled once for NXT previously, a victory over Damien Sandow on the March 27, 2013 episode of the show.

A title match was also made official for the October 8 show, as A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) will challenge Nathan Frazier and Axiom for the NXT Tag Team Titles. Waller and Theory had issued the challenge earlier in the day, which the champions accepted on last night's show.

In addition, rapper Sexxy Red will make another NXT appearance.

Red was arrested at an airport on the same weekend she acted as host for NXT Battleground in June. Per reports, though officials were surprised by the arrest, it was not expected to affect future plans between WWE and Red (who is a lifelong fan of the company).
