WWE Retires 24/7 Championship

WWE have retired one of their mid-card championships. 

The 24/7 Title is no longer listed as an active championship on WWE.com and the title has been moved to the alumni section with its lifespan being listed as '2019-2022.'

The change comes after then-champion Nikki Cross tried to throw the belt in a trash can on Monday Night Raw this week. Cross won the title from Dana Brooke earlier in the evening and she was later shown walking backstage with Damage CTRL. She moved to deposit the belt in the trash can but missed, with the title falling to the floor. Cross did not turn around to retrieve it, though, and instead just walked off. 

The 24/7 Title was established back in May 2019 by Mick Foley. Titus O'Neil became the inaugural champion and the belt was often used for comic relief on Monday Night Raw, with the belt becoming associated with R-Truth throughout its run due to his 54 reigns as champion. 

The belt had not been featured much on WWE TV since Triple H became Chief Content Officer earlier this year.
